What handrail profile should I choose?
Two things decide it: how the rail feels in your hand, and how its shape sits with the finishes already in your home. Ben offers the classic A profile, the craftsman High Profile A, a modern Blank, flat 2x4 and 2x6 sections, or a custom profile of your own design. Building code also requires a handrail you can close your hand around on a stair run, which rules some shapes out.
